Key quest guides

These guides are here for players wishing to enable themselves for high-end raids. Certain keys are required before admission to Apocalypse.

Blackwing Lair

Not required. Apocalypse is not currently raiding Blackwing Lair. The requirements are fairly easy, however, and you may wish to complete the quest next time you run UBRS.

To begin this quest, loot [Blackhand's Command] from the Scarshield Quartermaster just outside the Blackrock Spire entrance. Face the instance portal and turn right. The quartermaster is located at the end of the hallway up the incline.

Onyxia

Required. This quest line can be started in the Burning Steppes around level 52. It involves killing Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire. The final quest rewards the [Drakefire Amulet], required for entrance into Onyxia's Lair.

Upper Blackrock Spire

Not required. The key to UBRS is required to access certain parts of the instance.

Three bosses have a chance to drop [Gemstone of Smolderthorn], [Gemstone of Spirestone], and [Gemstone of Bloodaxe]. Each gem is a static drop from one of the bosses. These, combined with the [Unadorned Seal of Ascension], are combined to forge the Seal of Ascension with the help of the Scarshield Infiltrator and Emberstrife.

Molten Core

Required. The quest Attunement to the Core, available in Blackrock Mountain and completed in Blackrock Depths, must be completed to access Molten Core.
